What to start from? Start from researching Harvesting/Proccesing/Crafting Wood&Stone. Craft first pickaxe, sell some stone, hire worker and set him to dig stone. How to assign worker job? Go to Manufacturing tab Click and hold item icon. In new tab check section "Automation", press button to assign worker.
